Teacher Certification Partnerships

Great Hearts is committed to providing its faculty with ample opportunities to learn the skill of teaching.  For this reason, we are developing partnerships with several alternate teacher certification providers who are licensed to award teacher certifications.  At the present time, those partnerships are in the state of Texas only.

The institutions below are recommended for Great Hearts teachers seeking certification, and Great Hearts works with these institutions to ensure that their programming is tailored to serve the needs of our teachers.

Key Information

Q. Which program is right for me?

A. Take a look at the comparison table above.  If you are located in San Antonio, then UD’s program is not likely to work, since it currently requires in-person classes in Irving.  Otherwise, both programs lead to a state teaching certification, but with different curricular requirements and financial costs.

Q. Will Great Hearts make any contribution toward tuition and program fees?

A. Only if you apply for funds from the Professional Growth Initiative through your campus or receive a Special Student Services Pathway sponsorship.

Q. What external funding is available for teacher certification?

A. If you meet the financial need requirements, Federal Pell Grants can apply toward teacher certification programs.

Q. Do I have any work commitment associated with participation in a teacher certification program?

A. No.

Q. Am I eligible to participate?

A. Please review the admissions requirements for each program.  Any Great Hearts employee may apply for admission.

Q. How do I apply for these teacher certification programs?

A.  Interested teachers should review the application process for each program and contact Paul Weinhold, Director of Continuing Education: pweinhold@greatheartsamerica.org
